Having high cholesterol causes a variety of health problems in millions of people each year. High cholesterol can lead to coronary heart disease, angina, blood clots, and heart attack. The two types of cholesterol in the body are LDL and HDL. LDL cholesterol is the bad kind that builds up in the walls of the arteries restricting blood flow to the heart. HDL is the good cholesterol that goes through and cleans the body of bad LDL cholesterol. The HDL goes through and scrubs the walls of the arteries and carries away the bad cholesterol to be cleaned out of the body by the liver.
