The calories we burn a day is dependent on our height, weight, gender, and age. As we age, it becomes more difficult to eat and stay slim, no matter what is on the menu. The more activity expended during the day, however, the more calories are obviously burned. The rate from how the body burns calories is called the metabolic rate. Consuming 2000 calories per day and burning 2000 calories per day will maintain the same weight. If less than those 2000 calories are burned, weight gain will be the results. An intake of fewer calories than what is burned will result in a weight loss. Finding ways to speed up metabolism will aid in burning more calories in a day.
Any activity, even using the remote control for the television or hand washing a few coffee cups from the kitchen sink, will burn calories. Something as simple as lifting your arm will use energy, which will in turn, burn calories.
The basic metabolic rate is the calorie count burned by pure existence without doing anything but lying still. This accounts for about 60 percent of calories an average person will burn. Once movement is added into that, any kind from the simplicity of dusting the top of a dining room table to a more effortful task of scrubbing a bathroom floor, the average person may burn an additional 30 percent of calories.
The rate of burning calories will be enhanced in various ways. For instance, building muscle is an important factor which influences additional calories to be burned. An added pound of muscle will cause the body to burn an extra fifty calories a day. Since muscle is metabolically active, it will burn additional calories more so than any other body tissue, even without much movement.
A person who is mainly sedentary will only burn approximately 15 percent of calories, even though the average individual burns about 30 percent of calories. Therefore, any additional movement will have a dramatic effect on the total calories burned in a given day. Movement is the key. Whether you tap your feet or pace the room while talking on the phone, this movement is above and beyond just lying still on a sofa while watching television. If aerobic exercise is added in to your daily activities, such as brisk walking, swimming, biking, or step aerobics, your body will continue to burn calories throughout the entire day, even when you are sitting at your desk at the office. Additionally, any sport enhancement activity will have a dramatic effect on fat burning. Your body will look and feel better with any type of exercise or sport enhancement.
There are certain foods which are considered to be fat burner foods. Spicy foods as in hot salsa or chili can possible increase the metabolic rate by 50 percent for approximately three hours after eaten. So, loading up on the spices is beneficial. Other fat burner foods include fruits which are rich in vitamin C. This would include limes, lemons, oranges, tangerines, and grapefruits. Vitamin C will dilute fat and help in relieving that fat from the body. Besides eating the suggested foods for burning fat, it is also suggested to eat smaller meal at more frequent intervals.

Great blog you have here. Many websites like this cover subjects that just aren’t covered by magazines. I don’t know how we got on 12 years ago with just newspapers and magazines.
