There are natural alternatives to the prescription and over the counter sleeping aids which can be habit forming and most likely filled with unwanted side effects. This natural sleep aid may be just what is needed for a calm and restful sleep. The chamomile plant is a plant which is native to various parts of Europe and Asia. This flowering plant is now grown in the United States as well as northern Africa, Australia, Argentina, and Egypt as well. It has been used for years and years as a potion for many different ailments. The leaves and flowers of this particular plant are dried and placed in packages to be used as tea. It is also available in a loose form.

Throughout history, chamomile has been effectively used as a sleeping aid. All age groups have benefited from chamomile tea which originates from a chamomile plant. For years, mothers have used chamomile as a colic remedy for their babies. The calming effect is known to be beneficial as a colic remedy and for other forms of stomach indigestion. Chamomile has been given in many different ways. Not only has it been used as a brewed tea to drink, some folks place the tea bag as a sachet under their pillow and enjoy the aroma while drifting off to a restful sleep.

Herbal Sleep AidA component of the chamomile plant is called chrysin. This component is the part of the plant known to promote sleep and calm anxieties. It apparently works as a depressant which calms the uneasy feelings which may keep you awake. Relaxing with a cup of chamomile tea may lead to a good night sleep. Chamomile is not only an upset stomach and a sleep aid antidote. Chamomile may also reverse swelling caused by histamine based allergies. Since congestion and allergies to foods will cause sleeplessness, chamomile may be the product to relieve such symptoms. If ragweed is the source of allergy problems, however, chamomile may aggravate the symptoms with similar reactions.

Generally, chamomile tea is brewed about thirty or forty minutes before bedtime. By the time your head is on your pillow, the relaxing effect of that cup of chamomile tea will be ready to kick in for a restful sleep. This herbal sleep aid will most likely relieve any symptoms which are keeping you tossing and turning.

I have definitely noticed a difference in my sleeping since I started drinking chamomile tea every night. Not only does one cup put me to sleep, but I can barely finish it and I sleep through the entire night, it is wonderful!

Sleeping through the night is very important to me. I work a lot and therefore I have a lot of stress in my life. As soon as I read this article, I started drinking a cup of tea just before bed and holy crap, it worked! Thanks a lot!

I always knew that the chamomile plant was a plant that really can put you to sleep but I had no idea that the tea worked the same! This tea is incredible and if you people out there have problems with sleeping, you should try it!

Early days. After some research, a couple of days ago I stopped drinking my beloved strong cup of Tetley tea with milk and sugar (approx. 10 per day) and changed to drinking chamomile tea instead. The transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. Within an hour of drinking my first cup of this amazing brew I began to relax falling asleep for half an hour on the sofa. That was followed by a good night’s sleep. I did awake this morning with a headache which I believe can be attributed to caffeine withdrawal symptoms. I’ve had a few more cups today and felt so much better for it, more relaxed and less anxious. Just hope this feedback helps others who need to relax more.

  7. why not, like you said if you pay for something you expect the service, had the same experience when we went over to egypt but to be fair they were excellent when faced with the delays etc. we were taken to a 5 star hotel and looked after! but the rep as you said was never there, quite quite frustrating and when we were chasing up the delays etc we had to chase for 2 hours to find anything out! it was only because there were 3 operators on the same flights home that we got answers! complain it doesnt hurt.
