The calories we burn a day is dependent on our height, weight, gender, and age. As we age, it becomes more difficult to eat and stay slim, no matter what is on the menu. The more activity expended during the day, however, the more calories are obviously burned. The rate from how the body burns calories is called the metabolic rate. Consuming 2000 calories per day and burning 2000 calories per day will maintain the same weight. If less than those 2000 calories are burned, weight gain will be the results. An intake of fewer calories than what is burned will result in a weight loss. Finding ways to speed up metabolism will aid in burning more calories in a day.
