Benefits of Antioxidants: Running Increases Free Radicals, Antioxidants Fight Them

Benefits of Antioxidants

  • Our mothers knew what they were talking about when they told us to take our Vitamin C, finish our vegetables and eat every berry mixed in with our cereal
  • Natural antioxidants and anti-aging antioxidants are mandatory for preventing the cellular damage which may play a role in cancer and a multitude of other diseases
  • Free radicals from running and workouts have been a debatable concept
  • These antioxidants are known to prevent aging by scoping for free radicals which cause age related diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson diseases

Our mothers knew what they were talking about when they told us to take our Vitamin C, finish our vegetables and eat every berry mixed in with our cereal. Well, although she knew what was nutritious for her children, she may not have realized the true benefit of consuming that Vitamin C and bowl of berries. As time has come to pass, there are more proven reasons for such nutrients.

Researchers and health/fitness experts alike have a standing curiosity about the benefits of antioxidants and how they contribute to our bodies. Natural antioxidants and anti-aging antioxidants are mandatory for preventing the cellular damage which may play a role in cancer and a multitude of other diseases. Antioxidants are molecules which safely interrelate with free radicals. They stop the chain reactions prior to the damage of important molecules.

Free radicals, by the way, are atoms with unmatched electrons. They will be formed when oxygen intermingles with particular molecules. At that time, the radical will begin a chain reaction. The foremost danger derives from the possible damage they can do in relationship to cellular components like the cell membrane. The result would be an inadequately functioning cell, or even the death of a cell. That is where the antioxidants come into the process. Antioxidants act like a defense mechanism and prevent free radical damage.

Running and other intense exercise is known to increase free radicals. However, regular exercise will also enhance the natural antioxidant defense system. As a result, the chance of exercise induced free radical damage is prevented by the antioxidants. Free radicals from running and workouts have been a debatable concept. For regular runners on a routine, the body will enhance its natural antioxidant defense. However, if you power run once or twice a week, the free radicals are more threatened since the body is not in tune to that limited power run as it would be to the consistent runner. Runners and exercisers alike may enhance their antioxidant store with additional antioxidant rich foods and supplements.

Whether antioxidants are for extreme workouts or used as anti-aging antioxidants, free radicals will be threatened with such molecules. There are many enzyme systems within the body which will search for free radicals. However, antioxidants like vitamins C and E, beta-carotene and even selenium are among the key micronutrients needed for the body’s antioxidant process. Some foods which contain antioxidants are berries, grapes, and even coffee. One of the key benefits of antioxidants is known for aging prevention, the anti-aging antioxidants. These antioxidants are known to prevent aging by scoping for free radicals which cause age related diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson diseases. Fruits and plants with amino acids such as omega 3, 6 and 9 include high amounts of resveratrol and glutathione which will protect cells from free radicals and toxins.

So, yes, our mothers were correct about eating our fruits and vegetables and taking our daily vitamins. They may not have realized the reasoning behind all of their good advice, but with plenty of research, we now know what and why certain things are good for our bodies. Antioxidants surely play a part on our wellbeing.

I’m so glad my mother taught me to eat healthy, even though she didn’t realize to what extent she was teaching me. Now I am instilling the same thing into my children, with even more knowledge than she had.

I take Oxi-7, which is a natural anti-oxidant supplement. It is designed for runners, but still good for anyone who needs anti-oxidants. all natural product and safe. best supplement i have found in awhile
